Changes to legal migrations for work visas in 2024

March 17, 2025

As of 11th March 2024, Care Workers and Senior Care Workers will not be allowed to bring their immediate family members ie their dependents (partner nor children under the age of 18) with them to the UK.  Instead, their respective partners if they wish to join them in the UK will need to apply in their own-right ie Skilled Worker visa.

Care providers in England who act as sponsors for migrants (including care workers) are now required to register with the Care Quality Commission ( CGC). The CQC is the industry for Health and Social Care. This measure aims to crack down on worker exploitation and abuse within the care sector.

We anticipate that this will lead to many applications especially for children under the age of 18 being submitted outside of the Immigration Rules on the basis of compelling and compassionate grounds.

Please contact us if you wish to discuss the possibility of submitting an application outside of the Immigration Rules.
